What about for goods like iPods, or SmartPhones like the new Google NexusOne? That’s not even sold in Canada, so if I want one, I need to go to the States and buy one –> would they add duty to it?

You say “laptops, netbooks, printers” are all free from duty.
But how can that be.. many parts of the computer are chips and circuit boards from Asia. I’d assume even if you bought your laptop from the US, it would still be foreign parts in it.

When buying Cellphone Batteries make sure that you are not getting those chinese fakes and knockoffs.’~*

Question…
My brother in law is going to Buffalo to have winter tire put on a vehicle and was told that he will not have to pay duty coming back home. I am wondering if this is correct.
Thanks
