What about jewelry? What is the duty for silver jewelry? I want to buy about 6 pieces of jewelry totalling about $120. If I ship them seperately they are under $20 each but they cost me $6.95 per package (total $35.65). If I have them shipped in one package it will cost me $17. Is it cheaper to have them sent seperately..How much would customs, duty and taxes cost me?

Probably HST (Duty free), but different provinces have different rules of sales tax for live animals. If you would pay HST at the pet store, you'd pay it here.

Most provinces allow pets with proper vet vaccination certificates.

Hi I am a B.C. resident who wants to purchase a puppy in Bellingham within the next 2 weeks. I have looked everywhere but cannot find an answer? What tax is applicable to bring a puppy into BC? Other then a health certificate is anything else required? Thank you in advance for your help. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the info in the article. My questions are about collectables, specifically comic books. (1) It's difficult to find the proper Classification Number for a comic book. Can you provide a link or number or an idea where to find (believe me, I searched)? (2) Since most North American comic books are printed/manufactured in the USA, are they not exempt? (3) Is there any distinction as it relates to tariffs between a new comic worth two dollars and one that is valued at two thousand dollars?

They only ship using US Postal Express Mail International Service for about $33. I am in Toronto, Ontario if that makes any difference.

Sweet!

HST/or PST/GST. Brokerage fees apply if using a carrier (various rates from $5 up to first born child).

How was it shipping?

Thank you for this article and all the advice :)

I am looking to purchase a Benchmade Triage 915 knife which are made in the US (though I am not sure if the people at customs will know this)

What additional fees will I be charged when it arrives at my door?
